Phytochemical studies and HPTLC fingerprint profiling of different extracts of Portulaca Quadrifida L.

The present study was designed to detect the class of compound by phytochemical evaluation and perform high performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) fingerprint analysis hexane extract P. quadrifida (HEPQ), chloroform (CEPQ), ethyl acetate (EAEPQ) ethanol (EEPQ). successive extraction based on eluotropic solvent system utilised for extraction. preliminary screening carried out all extract. For HPTLC profiling precoated Merck silica plates were used as stationary phase while, mobile Toluene: Chloroform: Ethanol (5:4:1 v/v/v). scanning done at White light, 254 nm 366 nm. presence steroids, coumarins, flavonoids, glycosides, saponins, coumarins found in 4 extracts, except terpenoids which HEPQ EAEPQ. fingerprinting profile successfully obtained four extracts quadrifida. This data can thus be utilized quality control both qualitative quantitative basis.
